Everything your circle needs

One quiet place to stay close — without giving anything away.

Sodal folds the tools you'd normally scatter across five apps into a single private space, then encrypts all of it so it's only ever readable by the people you invite.

See where everyone is — only while they're sharing.

A calm, living map of the people in your circle. Set named Places like Home or School and get a gentle nudge when someone arrives or leaves. Location sharing is opt-in, per circle, and ends the moment anyone turns it off.

  • Battery and movement at a glance, never logged to a server
  • Arrive / leave alerts for the places that matter
  • Coordinates are encrypted end-to-end, like everything else

Messages and calls that are yours alone.

Group threads, private chats, voice notes, photos, and end-to-end encrypted voice & video calls — all in one place. Every message is sealed so that not even Sodal can read who said what, or to whom.

  • Read receipts, reactions, and typing — without the metadata trail
  • Verify a safety number to confirm you're talking to the real person
  • Sealed sender hides metadata even from us

Moments, a vault, and help when it counts.

Share a Feed of small everyday moments that never touch a public network. Keep documents and photos in an encrypted Vault. And in an emergency, one tap sends an SOS with your location to your whole circle.

  • Feed — a private timeline, just for your circle
  • Vault — encrypted storage for the documents you actually care about
  • SOS — instant alert with live location to everyone you trust
The privacy model

Private isn't a setting. It's the architecture.

Sodal is built so that the people you invite are the only ones who can ever read your circle. The encryption keys are generated on your phone and never leave it — there's no master key, and no back door, because there's nowhere for one to live.

Keys on device

Your master seed is created and stored on your phone, protected by the Secure Enclave. We never see it — so we can never hand it over.

End-to-end everywhere

Messages, calls, locations, feed posts and vault files are all sealed with per-circle sender keys and a forward-secret ratchet.

// x3dh + double ratchet

Sealed sender

The server routes encrypted envelopes without knowing who they're from. Even traffic patterns reveal as little as possible.

What we can never see

  • The contents of any message, call, or file
  • Where you or your circle are, now or in the past
  • Your contacts or who belongs to which circle
  • A profile on you — there's nothing to sell or leak

Good questions

The things people ask first.

When is Sodal launching?
We're putting the finishing touches on the apps now and launching on iOS and Android soon. Join the waitlist above and we'll send you a single email the day it's ready — nothing else.
If it's encrypted, can Sodal recover my data if I lose my phone?
No — and that's the point. Because your keys live only on your device, we can't read or restore your circles. When you set up Sodal you're given a recovery phrase; keep it safe and you can restore everything on a new phone. Lose both the phone and the phrase, and your encrypted history stays unreadable to everyone, including us.
Do I need to give a phone number or email?
No phone number, ever. You can optionally add an email for sign-in across devices, but it's stored privately and never shared, sold, or used to build a profile. Most people just use a passcode and recovery phrase.
How is this different from a regular family-tracking app?
Conventional tracking apps run your location through their servers and often monetize it. Sodal encrypts location end-to-end so only your circle can see it, makes sharing opt-in and reversible at any moment, and never logs a history we could be compelled to hand over.
What happens when someone leaves a circle?
They lose access immediately and the circle's keys rotate, so they can't read anything sent afterward. You can also remove a member with one tap, and choose to leave-and-forget a circle entirely from your own device.
